I’m beginning to think that our sweet, loving dog is also slightly mentally retarded. No really – if he was human I would consider getting him evaluated. Wait – do they offer that for animals? Is there a way to check for brain damage? I would love to know because that may eliminate 99.8% of the fights Joey and I have. (Disclaimer: In defense of our sweet, sweet Blue – he was abused and is very skittish)
There are some tried and true rules in our home when it comes to the dog.
#1 – If he hasn’t pooed he goes in the garage for the night.
#2 – If it’s been raining all night and he’s only done sprint pees, he goes in the garage.
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE:
#3 – IF HE’S IN THE BEDROOM, CLOSE THE DARN DOOR!
Obviously there is a point to me telling you all this and it concerns all 3 rules. It was raining last night so naturally Rules #1 and 2 automatically would apply – correct? He didn’t take care of business in any way shape or form as he would sprint out the front door, pee on the philodendron right next to the house and run back in within 2.3 seconds shaking off like crazy. Around 10 last night I told Joey I was going to bed. He was watching TV in the living room and Blue was in there with him. My last words were “Make sure you lock Blue up!”
Fast forward to 4am – I’m woken up by Joey whistling for the dog. Lights on in the bedroom. The dog doesn’t move. Joey then grabs him, Blue pees in the bed and all hell breaks loose. I ask what in the world is going on. Joey says the dog used the bathroom – both duties- in the living room. I ask why he wasn’t in the garage like he was supposed to be. (Blue is now hiding in the closet) Well Joey fell asleep on the couch. (FYI-all of this is somehow my fault) So Blue naturally did his thing wherever he felt like. I’m pissed off since I was woken up out of a deep sleep and now have to deal with a ton of crap –literally!
I put Blue in the garage and go to sleep in the other bedroom while Joey lies back down on the couch. We exchange a few more very loving words back and forth before he finally falls back asleep. I on the other hand manage to catch maybe another half hour of zz’s. Sigh. He was still in a fine mood when I called him later on this morning but I basically told him we could discuss it when I got home. I’m hoping his mood improves during the day since we have a ton to get accomplished this weekend and I can’t see us getting any of it done if we are snippy.
So my plan for this weekend is to find a crate for the dog…..and maybe the hubby too!

Deer burgers
Joey's dad brought over some deer burger meat a few months back. I personally am not a huge fan of wild game but as a loving wife I eat things I don't particularly like very much at times just to make him happy. So, last night we decided we are going to use up the deer burger meat. I suggested we make cube steaks with it since I don't mind the taste of those and it would have gone perfectly with the sides I had planned but Joey had his heart set on burgers.
Joey poured his heart into making these burgers. He mixed bacon and cheddar in and patted them to perfection. Then we realized it - we don't have any hamburger buns. So we zip out to pick some buns up and as we are leaving store #1 without buns I say to Joey - "Hey, did you cover those burgers up so Blue can't get to them?"
Joey - "No, I don't think he'll mess with them"
Me - "Really honey, you don't think so? I've had him eat 2,987,451 meals that I left uncovered but you're right - he won't touch your raw delicious deer burgers."
So its off to stores #2 and #3 and back home with the buns finally. Clue #1 - the dog is not waiting at the window when we pull up.
We open the door and there he is - just cowering and looking guilty. We look over at the counter and the pan with the burgers is gone. Poof! Disappeared!
Joey says - "What did he do with it?"
Me (the all knowing mom of my pet's activities) - "Well he took it in the bedroom of course"
So we walk to the bedroom and there in the middle of the floor is the torn apart and very empty aluminum pan. The dog is under the computer desk and things just don't look good. After a proper amount of scolding and guilt tripping Blue is deposited in the garage (for punishment) while Cadillac is kicked out of the garage (which he loves).
We then load up in the car again and head to Publix for some ground beef to make burgers. (My poor hubby!) He was cursing and grumbling the whole way there. mutter...can't believe he ate my F@#$in deer. Stupid a$$ dog. grumble grumble. We still had an amazing dinner and as a treat we even made homemade jalapeno poppers which Joey just adores.
So you see - it all worked out!
(Until this morning when Joey left his lunchbox sitting on the side of the truck at work and it blew off on the highway was run over by multiple cars and it of course held his beloved jalapeno poppers)
But other than that it all worked out fine - right?

BIG NEWS!!
First off - my apologies for being a blogging slacker once again. I had a busy week last week. I drove down to Sarasota to visit with my best friend who I hadn't seen in three years and had an absolute blast with her. I living being able to pick right back up as if no time has passed at all.
Now on to the BIG NEWS - we went to look at houses again on Saturday and found one we really liked. So we decided to put an offer in.....by 7 that night our offer was accepted! Its been a whirlwind since then with paperwork, inspections, application etc but I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end!
On top of all that I still have some Dr's appt's and what not going on so my apologies for not blogging. I'll come back eventually!

Not Me Monday
Not Me Monday was created by MckMama -- It's an opportunity to get a little therapy for all those things you would never do, but did :) Click here for all the rules.
So here's all the things I DID NOT do last week!
Yesterday I did not finally make and eat stuffed peppers. I did not do this after avoiding them for years convinced I wouldn’t like them only to discover they are in fact delicious.
I have not started imagining what I will do to the house we looked at Saturday despite not knowing if it will even pass inspection since they took the thermostat to the AC with them when they moved.
I did not put grocery shopping off for a whole week and only went on Sunday because I had resorted to making tomato soup and noodles for dinner Saturday night – nope not me!
I am not throwing one in for my husband – I did not stop mowing the lawn 1/3 of the way through and leave the rest for my wife to do despite the fact that she had already done some grocery shopping, swept, mopped, dishes and laundry. I would never be so selfish!

My brain hates me
I'm on Day 2 of the worst migraine that ever could be. My midrin has done absolutely nothing for me although throwing an ibuprofen 8 on top of it helped some yesterday. Since I had to drive today to get to work no midrin - just ibuprofen and an iced coffee for me. I have turned my office into a cave with all my lights off and the blinds shut. I like it in there....
NOW FOR THE SUPER EXCITING NEWS!!!!
We are going to look at houses on Saturday. We have found one we really like but we're also going to look at a few more in that neighborhood. We bit the bullet and did the pre-approval paperwork for the mortgage and asked my sister's friend who is also a Realtor to show us the homes. EEK. It's one thing to talk about buying and another to actually be going through the process. The only sticking point will be how much we're going to need at the closing table. I have some in savings, some I can borrow against my 401K but we may need to borrow from family a bit just to get us to the closing. We have the $8,000 tax credit coming to us along with some bonuses from my work and other money in the pipeline so we would be able to pay everyone back in a month or two. Wish us luck!!

"Not Me" Monday
I don’t think MckMama is having “Not Me Monday” today since her youngest Stellan has been in the hospital but I am going to go ahead with it.
I did not escape to my parent’s house for a few hours on Saturday after 20,000 members of Joey’s family invaded it right after I finished deep cleaning it. I did not use the excuse that my Daddy was sick and my Mom is out of town to go over there. I did not feel guilty and then come home to cook a huge dinner for Joey and family to make up for it.
I did not stalk the results line at the doctor’s office to see if my bloodwork results were posted to only be repeatedly disappointed.
I have not been obsessed with figuring out how to buy the great foreclosure home we found yesterday. I am not ridiculously excited that we may have a plan of action on it by the end of the week!
I did not fall madly in love with a huge Saint Bernard we saw at Lowe’s who drooled all over me and demand one when we move into a new house. My excuse was not that we wouldn’t have to buy rugs then – we could just move the dog around.
I did not skip grocery shopping out of sheer laziness and am not down to our last roll of toilet paper.
What did you “not” do this week?
